Tire Problem
Previous history on OEM solid tires had mediocre tire hours/service life as solids would chunk out and fail prematurely. Negative harsh ride and loss of traction in inclement weather (rain & snow). Radiant heat from plant caused flashed freezing of ramp in winter making for slippery hazardous conditions. Solid tire shock caused wheel dishes to crack and fail which was a safety hazard.

Installed Trojan HD Soft Core in Bias Tire

Success / Outcome
Soft Core has allowed for full tire tread wear out which has achieved cost savings providing extended service life. The smelter had an overall reduction in tire expenses when the Soft Core was reused. Operators enjoyed increased tractive effort resulting from Trojans air-cell flex giving the tire a full flat foot print. The tires were studded which aided in tractive effort. The air-like ride gave the operators added confidence while maneuvering up and down the icy ramp in winter with cargo. Wheel damaged was eliminated by the Trojan Soft Core air-cell technology.
