Site Conditions
Round trips (load/unload cement) of various distances and speeds. Harsh underground mining conditions with rough floor, sharp rock debris and water.

Tire Problem
OEM required a tire for load capacity, but retreaded tire has very little tread depth. Polyurethane would often break down under heavy loads and cycle times. Failures were common. In addition, the bolt together wheels were very time consuming to mount/demount. The mine experienced increased tire costs and loss of productivity.

Trojan Solution
Converted tire to 45×16-20, 36 ply mine tire with deep tread, installed Trojan HD Soft Core and mounted on heavy duty fabricated wheel.

Success / Outcome
The mine tire with Soft Core provides the load capacity required. The gold mine now typically achieves full wear out of the deep tread. They have eliminated both premature tire and polyurethane fill failure as well as costly downtime. The mine has achieved their lowest tire cost by significantly increasing tire life while reusing the Soft Core which has increased productivity.
